Drug Dependency Rehabilitation Programs

Some years ago, treatment for drug addiction consisted of impersonal and exacting programs that dealt with only the addiction. Now, many different types of programs are available that deal with not only the physical aspects of the addiction, but also the inner aspects of the addiction. It is now accepted that drug addiction is more than just the physical hunger. There is a mental facet of the disorder that takes command of the awareness and prevents the drug user from seeking therapy and total recovery.

Many types of residential recovery centers now offer established therapy programs for drug addiction. Such amenities are set in natural surroundings with plenty of space to meander around and cogitate. Class room courses offering training in coping expertise and avoiding risky situations after returning to normal life are also offered. These are vital as they were the ones that landed you into addiction in the first place.

Rehabilitation facilities offer a variety of therapies that deal with all aspects of the addiction. Individual counseling, group treatment with other drug addicts, domestic therapy for the drug abusers’ family and other families with similar complications etc.

Irritable Bowel Symptoms

by Kerry Zonika

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a disease that is estimated to affect 15% of the population in the United States today. There are many IBS symptoms that can help to diagnose the disease.

The disease is one that can easily be misdiagnosed and often is mistaken for other diseases it shares its myriad of symptoms with. IBS is often accompanied with several other painful or dehibilitating medical conditions, which can also make its diagnosis a more difficult task. IBS symptoms can be treated in a number of ways and although IBS and IBS symptoms can be painful and inconvenient the disease is not thought to be deadly.

IBS symptoms are many and are often accompanied with or include abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, or a feeling of incomplete bowel movement. There are four different classifications of IBS, which have slightly different symptoms. IBS-D has diarrhea as its predominant symptom. IBS-C is characterized by constipation as its primary symptom. Lastly IBS-PI is named for the fact that the onset of IBS symptoms closely follows an infectious disease the patient has had. Fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or a positive stool culture often characterizes this last form of the disease.

How Does Age Affect The Price Of A Long-Term Care Policy?

As you grow old, some things like dinners out and movies become cheaper due to senior discounts. However, conversely other things become more expensive, and usually those things are insurance. As a result, when you are getting a long-term care policy, your age is going to have a big effect on the price of a long-term care policy.

Look at it from the insurance company’s perspective. They have a 30-year-old computer programmer who works from home and rarely travels. As a result, he is considered low-risk and his insurance premium costs are going to be as low as $20 per month. However, for an individual who is 67 and has a heart condition, the costs become much greater because there is an increased risk that the individual will have to collect on the policy soon.

A 30-year-old can pay $20 per month for years and offset the cost of the long-term care expenses for the company very early on. This is not the case for the 67-year-old. The insurance company will need to collect as much money as they can before the individual needs long-term health care so they can offset the costs of his care.

Beware of Reverse Mortgage Scams

Reverse mortgages are being used by more and more seniors in an effort to get a loan that does not have to paid back until they move or die, giving them the funds they need to pay for their own long-term care, without relying on family or insurance. It is an incredibly popular practice for those over the age of 62, who own a home and don’t want to be a financial burden on their families. In fact, they are the most popular type of loan for Americans over the age of 62.

However, seniors who are in need of some loan cash sometimes fall into the traps of reverse mortgages scams through fake websites and reverse mortgage companies who charge too much. This is a horrible situation for a senior to be in, because they may lose thousands of dollars to the scam artists, turning them into a severe financial burden for them family.

Usually, the scam is perpetrated through telemarketing, with the senior being contacted by phone and convinced into giving up their personal information for the ‘loan’. The personal information is then used to steal the senior’s identity, often taking out a loan in their name, but making the senior foot the bill for the interest charges and monthly payments.
